Public Tours - What Are They?
- Public tours last about an hour and take small groups behind the scenes to get close to and learn about the animal(s) named on the tour.
- The quoted price admits one Zoo Society member. Non-members pay an additional $24/person (Zoo admission is included.)
- Please note the minimum age requirements listed for each tour. These are enforced to protect the safety of our guests and animals.
- If the tour you want to attend is sold out, email jparker@nczoo to be added to a waiting list: tell us your name, email address, the type and date of the sold-out tour, and the number of people in your group./li>

Private Behind-the-Scenes Tours
Private Tours provide the same experiences as public tours, but the buyer chooses the tour date, which can be set on a weekday or weekend. Private tour groups may contain up to 4 or 6 people, depending on the tour. The buyer determines who to include on the guest list. A paying adult must accompany any child younger than 17. In some instances, the buyer may add additional guests to the tour at a cost of $100 per person. Please email bsigafosa@nczoo.com to add guests to your tour group. The number of guests added cannot exceed the group size cap set for public tours.
BEFORE BOOKING A PRIVATE TOUR PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
- You must book your private tour at least two weeks before you plan to attend. That is the time it takes us to make arrangements with the animal care staff.
- We have posted age requirements for children to attend each tour. Children younger than the specified age may not go behind the scenes.
- Tour prices cover admission tickets to the North Carolina Zoo and to the tour.
If the month that you want to schedule a particular private tour has sold out, and you want us to try to schedule a second tour that month, email jparker@nczoo.com and tell us the following: Your name, the tour you want to schedule, the date (day and month) you want to schedule this tour, and the age of any children you want to include.
