Veterinary Experiences

All three programs are ordinarily offered from March through October.

Lunch and Learn With a Zoo Veterinarian

This program is available for September and October 2020!

Limited to two participants, this experience pairs tour-goers with Dr. Jb Minter, the Zoo's Director of Animal Health and Chief Veterinarian, to talk over lunch and take part in a tour of the Zoo's Hanes Veterinary Hospital and the Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Lunch and Learn programs are scheduled during the regular work week (Monday - Friday) on a date that is acceptable to the veterinarian and the participants. This program is available to adults 16 years old or older.

The program cost of $350 for Zoo Society members and $375 for non-members provides Zoo admission, lunch, and a Lunch and Learn experience for two people. The cost of the program includes a $300 tax-deductible donation to the North Carolina Zoo Society, the private, 501(c)3) non-profit that raises money for the North Carolina Zoo. This donation will be used to support the Zoo's veterinary needs.

Participants will be required to practice social distancing during the program and must wear masks while touring enclosed areas. Guests who have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing masks will be invited to participate in this program at a later date, when masks are no longer necessary to protect the Zoo's staff and animals from the spread of COVID-19.
