The North Carolina Zoo Society is one of the North American zoos that participates in a voluntary reciprocal admission program managed by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

What YOU need to know about this program.

To the best of our knowledge, the zoos and aquariums listed below have voluntarily agreed to offer free or discounted admission to individuals and families that hold current memberships in an institution that participates in this program. (The benefit is not available to Corporate Members. Corporate Members receive free admission only to the North Carolina Zoo and receive discounted admission only at Sylvan Heights Bird Park.)

How Reciprocal Admission Works

This program is voluntary and zoos and aquariums may withdraw from the program at any time without notifying other institutions of the withdrawal. While withdrawals are rare, they do happen. Consequently, we caution our members to ALWAYS CALL AHEAD TO CONFIRM THAT A ZOO OR AQUARiUM YOU WANT TO VISIT CONTINUES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. We include phone numbers in the list below to help you begin the process of contacting an institution.
To gain free or discounted admission through the reciprocal admission program, you will be required to show a current membership card from one of the institutions listed below and a current picture identification card.
Most institutions limit the number of free admissions granted on a reciprocating institution's family membership. Typically, only the two adults named on the membership card and two children are admitted free. Reciprocating Institutions do NOT honor the "plus" benefit that allows North Carolina Zoo Society members to bring free guests into the North Carolina Zoo.

PLEASE NOTE: We update this list regularly but the North Carolina Zoo Society does not manage or authorize the Reciprocal Admission Program. That is why we advise you to Always Call Before You Visit. If you learn that a zoo or aquarium no longer participates in the program, please consider emailing or calling us (336-879-7258; jparker@nczoo.com) so that we can update our list.
