2021 Veterinary Science Camps

Because of the uncertainties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been unable
to establish any plans for our 2021 summer camps.

When the situation changes, we will post schedules and additional information on this page.

2020 Junior Veterinary Camps

For rising 7th - 9th graders - both camps are co-educational.

This one-of-a-kind camp brings young people together to explore a future career in veterinary medicine. Campers practice administering some basic veterinarian procedures—physical exams, CPR, and such—and explore some of the specialized skills veterinarians need to care for wild animals in zoos. Most sessions are taught in the Zoo's own veterinary center.

2018 Senior Veterinary Camps

For rising 10th graders - college freshmen
We are still accepting applications to both camps.
The only camp to offer training in basic veterinarian procedures—physical exams, CPR, and such—and to explore the specialized skills needed to care for wild animals in zoos. Most sessions are taught in the Zoo's own veterinary center.

Scholarship Information -- Scholarship Applications are not Accepted After March 15.
A small number of scholarships are available for foster children, for the children of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and for children from low-income families. The amount of the scholarship is based on financial need. Camp fees cover all expenses. A large portion of the admission fee is tax-deductible as a donation to the NC Zoo Society, the private, non-profit organization that raises money for the NC Zoo. Proceeds support the NC Zoo's Veterinary programs. Fees may be paid in installments. Non-member campers are provided with Zoo Society membership when camp tuition is paid.
