Adding Australia to the Zoo

Adding Australia to the Zoo

The Zoo has begun laying out preliminary drawings for adding a fourth continental cluster—Australia—to its growing stable of continental regions. While still in the forming stage, the Zoo is considering which species it might like to include in its version of “The Land Down Under.”  Along with iconic species like the Red Kangaroo and Koala, the Zoo is looking at the possibility of bringing several lesser-known, but equally amazing species, including kangaroos that live in trees and mammals that lay eggs, into the mix of animals guests will see in the new expansion.

The portraits below depict some of the species being considered for the future Australian continental region.

To make a donation to support the Australian addition, begin by clicking here and entering your donation amount in the box at the top of the form. The minimal donation amount accepted online is $10.

Thank you for considering the impact your donation can have on the habitats and educational experiences the Zoo can bring to its guests in the future. The Zoo is one of the best places on Earth to learn about science and nature in the company of friends, family, woodlands, and wildlife.
